It’s hard to know without seeing your layout. I also do not understand how the extra 12” came about in the first place. But if you will have drawers or cabinets on either side of your range, you could simply make them wider by the 12” (6” wider on each side).

How about 12" of utensil storage instead of ruining your seasonings by storing them in a hot area?

I may not be understanding the design dilemma, but if you need to have two 6" cabinets on either side of the range, how about one for baking sheets (vertically) and the other for your cutting boards? Agree with the others that spices and such should be kept away from heat.

Here's the dilemma. Imagine a U-shaped kitchen with the stove in the centre of the 108" wall. On either side, my current cabinets are corner cabinets, each measuring 39" from the wall to the stove. The standard corner cabinets I keep finding measure 33". So 33" x 2 + 30" stove leaves 12" (on either side of the stove).

Get a better cabinet brand. With more choices.And a better designer. The bigger corner cabinets you need are not at all unusual. It only can’t be found in the cheapest of the cheap junk cabinets.

Choose another cabinet compnay that can do the right thing and BTW symmetry is sometimes not the best answer Maybe you need to not have corner cabinets and wider drawers IMO might just be a better choice in your situation. I need to see a to scale floor plan of the whole space .

I would love to go with other companies but budget is a huge factor so I'm limited, which is why I'm even contemplating keeping my cabinets and transforming them into shakers... I wish I was a carpenter!

Hi Sandra - I have those two cabinets, one pullout for spices (so they say); the other opens like a door. About 6” wide. I hate the spice cabinet because they don’t accommodate the bottles easily. It’s clumsy and stuff falls around. So I use only the top shelf for daily use cleaning supplies. The other one us for cutting boards and cookie sheets. Decoenthusiaste show a good alternative.
