Suggestion need for empty wall please!
Comments (6)Wall 1 would look great with a mounted lean to mirror. One that goes almost to the floor and up 6 or 7 feet. This will fool the eye that the space is larger and give you a final look at yourself before you head out the door. Wall 3 would look great with 2 large, or 3 smaller prints stacked on top of each other to draw your eye up to balance with the mirror. Wall 2 would look nice with 2 prints side by side to draw you down the hallway. Wall 4 could once again get a tall mirror placed on top of a narrow table. Accent wall color on a wall or two would accentuate your space....See MoreNeed your suggestion for porch floor and exterior wall improvements
Comments (7)Thanks for sharing the picture of the house for reference and your suggestions. These were indeed helpful. I never thought about changing the colour scheme of the exterior, this will indeed make the area around the front of the house more welcoming. Initially, I thought about adding brick veneer (dark in colour) to match the exterior colour. Apart from this, I noticed that the paving stone which have in front of garage is leveled with the rest of the floor, however, in my case I wish to lay the paving stone/bricks on top of the concrete floor. I found some 1 to 1.25 inches pavers which can do the job well. But I am not sure at this point, whether I should use the cement/mortar to attach the pavers on top of concrete floor, or just lay directly without any gluing material. I see that some people have used sand as base but I dont understand the purpose of sand over the concrete base. If I use just the polymeric sand over the pavers (and to keep the water seeping between the pavers) and then glue the bordering pavers so that it will keep the pavers in place. Will this work?...See MoreEmpty built-ins, need suggestions please!
Comments (11)Adding cabinet doors -- solid or glass or some combination -- to the built ins on each side of the fireplace would be a considerable improvement. Changing out the lights above them would also be an improvement. The ones you have are too tiny for the space and not at all interesting. Since you have a tv on one side and the wall on the other side of the fireplace is larger, you could treat the spaces differently. You could leave the small light you have over the tv and just change the one on the left. http://www.lampsplus.com/images/landing-pages/wall-lights-new/sconces.jpg Alternately, you could change out the look of the entire wall left of the fireplace, adding an electric outlet rather than adding any light at all for a clock or a digital picture frame and shelving in any style and in any configuration that is suitable for displaying your treasures. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/9e/71/95/9e7195b1052f6cc5f624441a4e7e2c59.jpg https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/52/2b/85/522b8517497e34136127b00e9088a42c.jpg https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/52/2b/85/522b8517497e34136127b00e9088a42c.jpg...See MoreNeed suggestions..empty back wall
Comments (11)Thank you for posting the second photo. Wow!!! what a room! A piece of artwork (standard oil on canvas) would require more money than I think prudent to spend. I would be tempted to find a college student who is majoring in Art (inquire from painting professors at local schools) and ask them to paint an abstract on the wall itself. It's a given that they would present you with several forms / colors to choose from. Then have a local cabinet maker construct a frame around the painting. Finished size (art and frame) should be about 7' 6" high x 12' long. May I inquire about the rug? Name of manufacturer?...See MoreAustin
