Yes the darker purple in the last picture is the Lunaria annua that you saw on your walk today. It is an early blooming, self sowing annual that does well enough in woodland settings. They can get a lot bigger with more sun.

@Sarah this one is not my garden. The Polemonium has been slow to colonize in our gardens. We make up for it in a few weeks when an ocean of Phacelia purshii blooms in a similar blue. Our daffodils are finishing up. Spanish Bluebells come next.

Always enjoy your pix Christopher, both your garden and this one. Such a wonderful contrast to some of the sterile ‘landscapes’ we see on here, with their red mulch, meatball shrubs and complaints about ‘messy’ trees etc.

No I did not plant this garden. I am planting my own 3 acres of wild cultivated gardens like this. My impression is the home owner directed the planting. Age has made it difficult for her to maintain it. I have known of this garden for many years. It is a second home and they are currently away. I will learn more in time.

Lovely garden. Is it raked? I have a wooded property I am trying to increase the beauty of, it just has a ton of leaves and twigs.
