How long is short term?

I'm thinking a week. It's been too wet to plant, but if I hadn't bought them yesterday, I wouldn't have had another chance.

They’ll be ok in the newspaper for a week. Keep it damp, open the top of the bundle for air and light and keep them cool. Or just plant them now. I’m sure they won’t mind the wet. In fact wet weather is ideal for transplanting. It will help them settle in better than being planted in dry soil.

Agree w/floral. Strawberries don't need a lot of babying, they'll do fine in typical spring weather. If frost is predicted, I would protect them, though (e.g. frost blanket).

Thanks for the prompt advise. The roots and lower stem are wrapped in wet paper and I have them in a cool room with plenty of lights. May get to plant them tomorrow. There's supposed to be one or two nights of light frost, but I have a good frost blanket I can put over them.
