In this order, choose wall art, rug, soft furniture such as chairs, bedding/drapes. Paint is last.

    Any suggestions for art?

Before artwork you need nightstands and lamps.

And a bench below the tv. Maybe a chair or two in the corner near the windows. New light. Plus the above :)

Bedside tables should arrive at mattress height. Add a lamp so the total measurement falls between 58-64" above the floor.

Here's how to add a rug under the bed.

Looks like you have a water view. Maybe you'd like to pick up those colors in your bedding, art and rug.

I like modern....recommendations for lamps? Carpet?

Maybe blue nightstand with white lamp.

Beautiful bedroom! The built-ins provide so much sleek storage. Could you provide dimensions of the room? Is it a King sized bed? How high is the mattress off the floor and how much space is on either side of the bed? Are there any other functions you would like to serve such as a seating area for one or two people, a desk or vanity, etc? Other than modern, do any colors appeal to you or do you prefer neutrals?

When you have a blank slate, the first step is to decide on how you want room to feel, vs looking at individual items. This will make your decisions easier and room will end up coordinated. Start with inspiration pictures and eventually you will narrow down elements to achieve the look.

Love these ideas! The room is 15.5ft x 16ft...We have a king bed (top of Mattress is 29 inches from the floor) and will keep the bed frame (which is 52 inches from the floor). Would love side tables with lamps on either side of bed, some sort of artwork above the bed, a rug under the bed and a credenza under TV and maybe a plant in the corner...The cabinets on the wall are very functional but haven’t been updated since 1970s - would love to tie them in...We live on the St Lawerence River in Ontario so maybe some art that depicts that? Love the stuff that Judy suggested but don’t know where to find it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Beautiful! Well, don’t know much about shopping options in Canada but here are a few ideas from Wayfair. You have enough space beside bed for chunky nightstands and they need to stand up to the scale of the king bed. They also can be slightly taller than mattress because of bedding adding a couple inches. Look for things like bachelors chests or accent cabinets:

Another option: choose bedding and curtains firstly. Use these as the basis for your color and style. Art is chosen because you love it. It does not have to match anything...just so it makes you happy when you look at it. Check out local art studios, art schools, and local museums. Try to avoid manufactured art.

112 posts. I'd thought that I answered a posting about the cabinet doors.

A nice combination that would be calm and complement the view and adding a comfy chair would be a great idea.

White, sleeker look for a more modern feel

Art site you might like to check out below and for oils or watercolours, perhaps if you live near Picton, you could find something there, when they reopen.

A few online sources for Canada easy to use while in lockdown...(I am in Toronto):

    structube.com

    article.com

    crateandbarrel.ca

    ikea.ca

    walmart.ca

    amazon.ca

    And the list continues...

As far as helping you narrow down your preferences/style because you are really starting with a black slate: do you have any inspiration pics or can you define your style or tell us more of what you like.

And do you need help with defining your design or/and sourcing the items?

Start with a neutral but interesting rug. The size you are looking for is 9x12

If you like a darker color rug with the lighter wood nightstand. For the lighter rugs would choose the darker wood.

And now the super fun part- art! I recommend the art to be above the nightstand as your pics

Because of your amazing location that will be our inspiration. The art above each nightstand can be a combination of a map print or vintage poster and a comemorative plate? If you are into that. If not just a couple of vintage ship prints on each side.

A mirror and accessories like these can be incorporated if desired in the styling of the nightstands- a nod to the nautical history of the area

The minimalist look is IN and I love it. Don't clutter this sunny light room with stuff. All you need is a bedside table with just enough space to fit an excellent reading lamp, a tiny vase of fresh cut flowers, and a couple of stacked books. Next, a jute rug on the floor and on the wall, off-center, behind the bed, a small watercolor print of a ocean scene. On the windows, natural color or light blue linen, canvas or cotton shades. The idea, is for your bedroom to look and feel and smell like towels and sheets that have been washed then dried on a clothesline in the sun and fresh air on a hot summer day. Lastly, put all of your clothing and accessories in storage bins and on hangers in your closet. If you have a collection of hats, then install a rack on the wall opposite the bed and they will soften the design and add an interesting personal touch. If you put a stereo system in your bedroom (which I think is a must, so you can listen to your favorite music while you read or on your phone), keep the shelving or platform simple. Good luck and have fun!

Mix some high low for the bedding. Basics always good at ikea and finer more premium items at crate and barrel or hbc

Nad T - The Kassy Design that you're showing looks wonderful! The rug has nice color. The ottomans for the end of the bed add texture. I'd buy everything that you're showing(maybe except the floor mirror).
