Kitchen Cabinet help?? s

Good morning! I wanted to ask opinion on kitchen cabinets. I always receive such great advice here and appreciate the responses! So our standard upper cabinets were 12”. Husband felt they were too small and changed to 15” but now I feel there’s not a lot of head space? We have longer than standard backsplash area it measures to about 21-22 inches. Lower cabinets are standard 24”Thoughts?? Also, hood would come out to 19 inches . We were going to leave it exposed but do you think a custom hood would look best? What’s the price range on this typically?? Thanks in advance!!

I have no idea what your question is . !5” deep uppers are now becoming the norm and for good reason plates are getting bigger . What is the purpose of the drop down counter and why not all drawers for base cabinets? I love that you made the space between the uppers and lowers bigger I do that almost all the time now IMO 18” was too close .A proper sized hood should be deep enough to capture the stuff from the range so 19” is perfect . Hope there is some simple trim going to fill that tiny gap above the cabinets.

@patricia Colwell consulting. That’s great then, 15” is fine, I just wasn’t sure if it would be an issue with food prepping if the cabinet was larger in depth because it juts out more. I wanted to do all drawers, but the area below the hood will be the cooktop. The drop down area you see is where farmhouse sink will go. Next to that is a trash pullout. Yes! Simple trim will be placed where gap is

If your counters haven't been templated, and if you have a couple of extra inches in the aisle, you could pull the bases forward and make counters deeper, to provide more space in front of the uppers. Bonus is extra counter space. Since the cooktop would move forward, hood would also need to move forward or be deeper.

And how much Space in the aisle is needed? I think we have plenty of space!

Work aisle for one person 42", for two people 48". Since uppers are 3" deeper than standard 12", pulling bases forward by 3" would give you the same head space. Have you settled on depth of perimeter overhang--1.25" to 1.5"? Subtract the extra cabinet depth, plus the overhang depth, from the aisle.

(Note--your base cabs and counter will project beyond the face of the oven cab, unless you also pull it forward; it looks as if you have the space to do that, but you'd need some filler against the wall behind the oven cab, or a new side panel. If that's too much hassle, I doubt that the projecting corner would be a hip-bruiser since that's not a traffic aisle.)
