Google rooting woody cuttings. Or Plant some sour orange seeds from a sour orange and in a year from now you can T-Bud each to get a grafted finger lime.

Finger limes, coming from a desert climate in Australia, are drought tolerant, so I would expect they probably root easily. Use transparent plastic wrap to cover a large plastic container, to hold in the humidity, that will help them root.

However, there are some reasons to have them on rootstock. I don't know if that is specifically the case here, but typically fruit trees not on rootstock will take a long time and have to get to a very big tree size before they begin fruiting.

Socal, that is not true. If you take a cutting, it takes the node count of where on the mother the cutting was taken from. if your cutting came from an immature branch, it can take a long time to fruit, but if the cutting was taken from a mature fruiting branch, it will take that node count and can start flowering very soon.

I don't disagree with what you stated, but what you stated doesn't make what I stated not true.

Trees that are more likely to fruit earlier even when they are not on rootstock typically have a more "dwarfed" growing habit (which finger limes probably does compared to other citrus varieties).

socal: What you stated confused me more. Are you saying you can take a scion from a non-fruiting plant and it will fruit faster if grafted to a root-stock? If so, that is new and surprising to me.
