Your picture didn't show up, but it might be Potentilla (or Duchesnea) indica, which is a nuisance and has tasteless fruits.

Plant is small. This clump is about 6 inches wide. Individual leaves are about 1 inch in size.

I'd expect this to be a cinquefoil. Apparently these are close enough to strawberries that named cultivars said to be from intentional crosses between the two have been put on the market as dual purpose plants (decorative pink flowers + edible fruits).

Interesting. If it helps, the leaves consist of 3 leaflets. Cinquefoil usually has more?

I expect Bookwoman is right, and if so it will have yellow blooms instead of the white blooms like a cultivated or wild strawberry. We see these growing all over the state here from zones 6A to 7 A. Here is a link that may help
