Congratulations on your new home...it looks lovely. The entry doesn't seem exceptionally narrow, but the chest you have there is much too large, deep and heavy-looking for the space. A shallow console table with legs would look more appropriate. I don't know your style or preferences, but a search on HOUZZ (narrow console table) brings up hundreds of choices. Here is just one:

Also, a mirror over the console table is always good in an entry way for last minute hair checks. Some flowers or a plant, and maybe a pretty dish for keys, but keep it simple. If you don't want a mirror, a colorful and large piece of artwork over the table is a good idea. It looks like the area could use some bold use of color.
