Peninsula overhang

Hi! Question? How long should peninsula overhang be? We were thinking 14 inches but a search told us 15 inches would be ideal to tuck barstools in and have ample room... what are your thoughts? We didn’t want to crowd the space too much because there will be a fireplace behind the peninsula... thoughts??? Here’s our rendering but the fireplace will look different like the inspiration pic.. thanks !!!

Whether you do 14 " or 15" , it won't matter. The stools are what gets closer to the fireplace visually. Most stools having 16 - 18" deep seats, so they will stick out a bit anyway.

You need to have support for the counter figured out.

If we were talking about a traffic aisle, 44" is the minimum recommended behind seating. This is not a traffic aisle, and eyeballing it, it looks like more than 44". So, if you have at least 45", use the extra inch for the seating overhang, and don't forget that the back cover panel will take up some of your leg room. Yes, have your support system figured out before the countertop arrives.
