Lawn mower capabilities

I have a zero turn mower and I mow about 2 acres, apart of which is a ditch, the pitch is some where between 30 - 45 degrees. Is this safe? I always feel like there is no way it would flip over but my dad and brother are terrified to mow the ditch. is this pitch within the capabilities of the mower?

This is from my exmark manual,

"Use EXTREME caution when mowing and/or turning on slopes as loss of traction

and/or tip-over could occur. Drive slower on slopes. Progressively greater care

is needed as the slope increases. DO NOT mow slopes greater than 15

degrees. Watch for ditches, holes, rocks, dips, and rises that change the

operating angle. Keep away from drop-offs and steep banks. Avoid sudden

starts when mowing uphill - mower may tip backwards. Loss of traction may

occur going downhill - weight transfer to the front wheels may cause drive

wheels to slip and cause loss of braking. DO NOT mow slopes when grass is

wet - slippery conditions affect steering and reduce traction and braking. The

operator is responsible for safe operation on slopes. See inside the back cover

to determine the approximate slope angle of the area to be mowed."

What does the user manual say?

Maybe find a forum for landscape business owners and ask the question there?

Next time you see a landscaping crew with similar equipment, stop and ask the crew what their experience is and how many incidents of flipped mowers have they witnessed or heard about?

I would use a walk behind mower or string trimmer for the ditch. Just because you have a tool does not mean you can do what you want with it.

Thank you, I will take more precautions in the future, it is just weird to me because I have mowed over some very steep parts, and sometimes it seems it might want to tip over but never does, almost like it won't. Even going up over a very steep part and the front wheels come up, it just goes right over it and lands back down. The ditch is at least 30, I think more around 45 degrees, and steep in one part that I only go down on. I must be very lucky 😅
