I tell most people that I am getting on a bit, but in reality I am really, really ancient.

One of the reasons I came back to Cornwall was so I could revisit all the places where I was brought up, visit the dolmens where my relatives are buried and the places I was taken to so I coiuld offer thanks to the spirits. (No not whiskey or vodka. We only had crude beer in those days).

Thefof typed "visiting", and not "revisiting"!

After all those years I can't always be sure if I've visitied there before.

Not a genus I am familiar with but any plant with that common name as well as being semi-parasitic is one that I could become fond of :-) And the fact that it attracts a large, northern bumblebee that has adapted specifically to feed from the asymmetrically shaped flowers.

I am just finalising the purchase of a property, the garden of which, can only be described as an insect desert. Completion looks like April 30. :-))))))

This is one of the hemiparasitic plants, along with Rhinanthus minor (Yellow rattle), Odontites verna (Red bartsia) and Euphrasia officinalis (Eyebright) I want to incorporate into the lawn to help control the grasses while other insect friendly plants are planted and sown.

I knew of it, but have never actually seen it before.

I was fairly sure it was but growing on the moors, plants have a habit of being dwarfed, and this was so tiny.

We’re back to the ‘advantages’ of a depleted flora. There’s nothing else it can be.

Having spent so much of my life in places that do not have 'depleted' flora, I have learnt to doubt my own IDs. Wrong way too many times. :-)))
