It's all about personal preference. The only time when this will matter is during resale. Some people like to have a bathtub in the main bedroom especially younger people who plan to have kids or already have small children, some don't care who already have older kids or kids out of the house.

If you plan to stay in the house for a while do it to your liking and don't worry about it what happens later. You want to enjoy and have what you want because there will always be a buyer with what you have.

Most realtors will tell you that a house needs ONE tub. If you can’t put it in the smaller bathroom, they would tell you to make sure there is one in the larger bathroom. However, I do agree with @GN BUILDERS LLC, in that a long time stay in a house you love takes precedence over what anyone else says. If you’re going to sell within 5 years, keep a tub in the master. I am assuming these are the only two bathrooms (?)

I agree that if you don’t use a tub then why plan a space around one . IMO a home without a tub I would never buy since I have bath every night that is how I live. I am not sure what the issue is since there is a tub in the main why not just a bigger shower in the ensuite.

There is a master bathroom as well, so these are the other 2 in the upper level of the house. In terms of resale I too feel the main bathroom needs a tub, hubby doesn’t feel so. And since we will most like not be here long term, I think a tub is the better choice.
