I really like your idea of the dark colors. Before saving up for larger windows, maybe you could just replace the lights for larger ones? The ones there seems way too tiny for the space. Larger black ones would look great with the black railing too.

Think about the style of this home. What is it? You’ve got a touch of mid century modern. High light that, build upon it. Steel cables instead of spindles would be a suggestion. You can get the kits online. Yes, the light fixtures are too small and not a complimentary style. Yes, the windows are too small.
