Bathroom Layout Change - Feedback Requested

Master bathroom is small and narrow, looking to change up the layout by also reorienting the guest bathroom.

Rough sketches of before/after below. One potential issue is that it would mean both windows would be in the master bathroom and the guest bathroom would not have any.

Dimensions? Scaled floor plan? Door sizes and swings?

I can take exact measurements later today, but I was initially wanting feedback on whether moving walls to change how the two bathrooms were configured were warranted or raised red flags.

    Thanks

I like it. I grew up using a bathroom without a window and never noticed or cared.

Yeah, window in master bath is nice, but I’m usually in the bathroom before the sun comes up or after it sets anyway!

If you switch the sink and toilet in the secondary bathroom, they might be able to easily share plumbing with the same fixtures in the other bathroom. Or, maybe it doesn’t matter. Or, maybe switching would make the toilet be in full view with the door open.

Yeah I was thinking the vanity should be in front of the door.

House was built in 1960 - my guess was the window dilemma.

Here is an inspiration photo (flipped with windows on right and vanity/toilet on left)

I would put a walk-in shower in the master as it is easier to get into and out of ...on a daily basis...leaving the tub in the guest bath for the occasional soak....a window with natural light is a good feature for re-sale and any time in the future that your schedule changes..it could be long and high if privacy is an issue...leaving room for towel bars beneath it...... and also nice to be able to open for a little for fresh air on a sunny day...

@leafonthewind in the inspiration photo... looks like the glass shower door would hit the toilet when opened? I know this isn’t your exact design, just something to think about

    Where are the windows located?

@Mamaham_NC_Zone7 I was considering if a curbless/doorless shower was a possibility, although it seems like it may only be possible if a rain shower head is used to limit splashing.

@Ying Wang I will measure the placement of the windows later today and repost.

I've often wondered how the glassless/curtain less showers don't flood the bathroom. They sure look nice and less glass to keep clean!

Your layouts look nice. The new design is much more practical and takes advantage of the space better. Do you have a linen closet somewhere else? I guess you didn't have one before, but they are nice to have for towels etc.

@Mamaham_NC_Zone7 I think it just relies on sloping the floor in the shower area, although I still wonder if splashing could get water past the sloped portion.

The linen closet is in the hallway just outside the two bathrooms (the small closet from the original pictures). I guess we could also add a furniture piece between the windows - something like this?
