I think it would be fun to use an authentic color from when these treasures were new. These are just a couple of examples ... search ‘victorian era color palettes’ for lots of others:

My house is bluer, but I have a wine colored doors. They look great with the blue.

Orange is the opposite of that blue color. Not crayola orange, but something more sophisticated.

I think a buttery yellow would look beautiful!

Anything bright would look great: yellow or coral would look good or even a deeper blue/gray would look nice.

Holly Kay— I think I’m going to use that buttery yellow in my porch accents. I thought I wanted to steer completely clear of yellow since I’d been waiting so long to paint the previous owners choice of yellow with red and brown trim..... but I do think it will look good against the blue/gray!

kculbers— we have decided to paint the porch floors Kendall Charcoal by Benjamin Moore, and that thought did cross my mind. What about just using that on the door? I think I like that as well!

I drove through the historic district here after seeing this post and took note of any large Victorians that had a blue/grey color similar to yours... I'd say that at least 75% of them had a natural wood (unpainted) door and it looked great. I remember a few had doors that were painted a darker matching hue. Another was yellow, iirc, and a couple were white. Your house is gorgeous! I'd go with natural / unpainted wood! :)

@julieann281 did you choose a door color? The house color is so pretty!! I'm trying to choose an exterior color myself....I didn't see on this thread what the body color was?
