It's manufactured quartz, not granite.

One way to tell the difference is that with granite, the different colored grains are usually different sizes and shapes. For example, feldspar crystals are rectangular, mica is flat flakes, hornblende is skinny rectangles, and quartz is glassy and blob-shaped.

But with the manmade stuff, all the shapes are the same.

Older engineered stones have an “alligator” finish; it’s much finer in the newer incantations, however, estone is not as glossy as natural stone. And yes, your picture is Silestone; a discontinued color probably, but I haven’t checked.

Maybe she needs a replacement piece, or she has a warranty question - - there could be many reasons someone might want to know the name.

This is in a home my daughter recently purchased. The backsplash doesn’t complement it at all. We are painting the cabinets and were discussing what the countertop material could be.
Today, we looked underneath after removing a drawer and it stated Silestone. She cannot replace countertops and backsplash at present so we are painting cabinets an off white as well as painting the backsplash the same color to remove at least one competing color.

Now that we know the name of this silestone, in case my photo doesn’t show it true to actual, does anyone have suggestions on a BM color to complement it? We are thinking an off white, cream, etc.

It may be Kona Beige. Regardless, looking at photo, anyone who has a suggestion on paint color for cabinetry in kitchen...much appreciated.

Kathy The OP stated her daughter just bought a house with this counter top and is not replacing it. You may think it is out of style but she didn't ask you if it was or not.

Anytime a countertop is discontinued, it's because it isn't selling, natural stone included. The marketplace, not Houzz commenters, determines what's in style or not.

@ Queeni: I loved BM white Dove in advance or cabinet coat. What is the material on the backsplash? We painted our maple cabinets that color when they got tired and water stained.

White Dove is one that a friend recommended. Material on backsplash is a stone and perhaps should be painted same as cabinet color. The backsplash does not complement the counter top at all. See photo.

@queeni: what doesn’t she like about current cabinet color? It looks very close to white dove to me. Would you guys be painting the cabinets? Personally I could leave cabinets alone, and try and replace backsplash with the money saved, as hiring to paint cabinets is not cheap either

This is White Dove. I guess it is a skooch creamier than what your daughter currently has. Can you paint tile??
