This one seems benign - no prickers, soft leaves. But is it?

Appears that it could be Celastrus orbiculatus - oriental bittersweet.

Bittersweet, and I'm very sorry but no, it's not benign. If you wnat to have nice trees in the area, it will climb and smother them. I've pulled up lots and lots of bittersweet from a long neglected landscape in Massachussetts, and we found it really does work to just pull up as much as you can get every year. Some bits of root remain, but they only shoot up 3 to 5 feet the next year, not enough to kill a tree before you find it and pull it up again. It's oddly satisfying, and we'd proudly show each other if we got a particularly long thick bright orange root.
