I think if you moved your dishwasher to the fridge wall and placed your stove to the left of your kitchen window either squeezing it in or even downsizing to smaller size stove and getting rid of the peninsula that would open up your entire space more. You may then have room to use your chestnut table as both an island and seated dining and maybe still have room for a small scale table & chairs. That way you could use a continuous flooring which would make this great room look bigger. I think an engineered wood floor or wood look LVP would look better with the pine paneling than the slate, it's way too dark and will shrink your space. The wood looks more homey and cabin like than tile. Maybe pine lower cabinets and white uppers? The white marble look will keep your space lighter and brighter. I have pine paneling in my lake house and put wallpaper in my kitchen area (framed with pine boards) to break up all the paneling.

Wow.. appreciate your time and thoughts! Thanks for your help! I couldn’t find an engineered wood that would work w the busy pine. I even tried the slate that has the gold veins but was too busy! I will keep looking.

As for the dishwasher on the other wall, it doesn’t fit for code according to our kitchen cabinet maker. As for cooktop or oven There’s only 24” between the sink and the picture window that limits me in the placement. Am using a small kitchen sink to make it work for sink centered on window space. Agree that your idea of eliminating island opens room up and eliminates the range hood hanging in that area! Originally there was a refrigerator wall where the island is located. We closed the side kitchen window to allow for a refrigerator to go next to back door. Thank You!!
