They all have to be cleaned. The dirt will get on them, regardless of color. However, a darker color, may hide the dirt a bit more than white. If you have to constantly clean them now, then the same will be with colors, or stained, etc.

A dark color may be more forgiving in terms of showing dark marks, but it shows every speck of dust. Perhaps beige or gray are not as absolute, therefore, not as bad for cleaning.

IMO the white at least shows when they are dirty and 5 layers of paint are too many so if you want a change those cabinets IMO need to be stripped to the bare wood and maybe just leave the wood refinished for the change. IMO 20 yr old cabinets have probably had their day and the new all lower drawers are so much better for use that IMO I would save the money from painting and put it toward new cabinets.

Probably it's not going to matter what color they are. Maybe a wood would be more forgiving. Mine are light blue and I can still see everything, and every day since we put them in I've wondered what in the world my husband does out in the kitchen when he thinks he's cooking.
