Running an Installed Crawl Space Fan

We bought a house that has a crawl space fan. This is our first home with a crawl space fan. For those who have crawlspace fan, how often do you run the fans in the summer? And for how long?

All I have is a switch in the laundry room that says 'Fan'. No other controls or any monitoring.

The obvious reasons for crawlspace exhaust ventilation that this homeowner (me) knows about are to deal with dampness or radon. It might be worth trying to contact the seller (through their agent if no other means is available) to see if they can shed light on why it's there and when (if ever) to have it on. Good luck.

Not really necessary in hot, dry climates. But I'd be interested to know why it was installed.
