Very pretty, Hoang Ton! (I think I told you once about why I enjoy saying or typing your last name so much:-) I love hearing the birds in your video almost as much as seeing your lovely Violet’s Pride. Your videos really give us a good look at the plant as a whole. It looks looks super healthy and happy. Do you ever get blooms with a very pink center and very violet outer petals? I don’t see them colored like that very often, but I really like it when VP blooms that way. I don’t think my VP blooms are ever particularly large. Even during the winter months, (So CA zone 10a) my blooms are on the small side. I agree with you about her blooms turning pink in the heat. When we get super hot, my VP blooms can be an ugly Pepto-bismol pink. Thankfully, it has to be over 100F to cause that particular color here, and I don’t see it often.

Is your Violet’s Pride an outstanding bloomer? I think I keep mine mainly because of the incredible amount of blooms it puts out. In my garden, Violet’s Pride has been an overachiever in the bloom department. I once started a thread called something like “Violet’s Pride is overloaded with blooms.” That was just a few months after I had planted it. It’s been a super blooming machine from the start. Mine currently has some open blooms, with an unbelievable amount soon to open.

Lisa Adams, thank you so much Lisa. I don't think I have ever see that bicolor on mine like you described. Mine occasionally put out big blooms but not that often. It has been a steady bloomer for me. I think if I give it more sun it would bloom a lot more. I would love to see your Violet's Pride at its peak bloom, it would be a sight to behold for sure!

Hoang Ton: Don't feel bad, since I do worse, like putting roses in 4 hours of sun only since my full-sun spots are taken by veggies or trees.

Hi Lisa! I'm so happy to have you back! Don't worry about the pictures. They appear normal when 1 clicks on them which I have to do to get a clear view anyway. I'm so jealous of everyone's rose Violet's pride. This rose does not grow very large for me as I think it is quite tender and also extremely prone to black spot in my yd. It is grafted from springhill. I keep it cause I'm happy for the flowers it gives me and it doesn't take up much space.

I have been working the soil where it was planted for 2 years and it just wasnt getting any richer and poor Violets Pride was dying.

When I dug her up the soil was dry and just terrible looking. Hopefully she will like her new pot and thrive .

Kristine - yes, I really hope your VP enjoys its pot. :) She's a worthwhile rose to try to save.

I had seen her on Sunday and she looked pretty enough to go grab some pictutes but by Monday I could tell that she was in trouble. Now I am concerned about the other roses in that area. I will be worki g hard at amending that soil.

Hoang Ton, don’t feel bad! You grow beautiful roses. I’ve seen and enjoyed them all. I’m just in a year round growing climate. I also have rich clay soil. In such a dry climate, this soil works well. I imagine it would be an issue somewhere that gets lots of rain. Here, I’m glad my soil holds on to the water. You wouldn’t want my summer water bill!

I think yours will be happy potted Kristine. I had a potted one that did great. I gave it to my dear Sarah, because she liked it and like Vap, I received a second one from Spring Hills ’Rainbow of Roses”. The one shown in this thread is the one from Spring Hill.
