this rose was in balcony for a month i watered it time to time and gave rose food once two weeks. and i sprayed fungicide once . When i realized the blackened eye buds i brought it inside today :/

Hi Cute Pofi, I don't consider myself an expert by any means, but it looks to me like a dormant rose cane, nothing to worry about.

Is the weather on your balcony still cold? If so then I think it will leaf out once the temperatures are warmer.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

thank you so much for commenting. All my roses have leafed and even some budded but comte looks bare and sad in the corner :(( my balcony isnt that cold . it gets warmer and sunny day by day . hope someone who knows the exact problem help me :(

The fact that the cane is nice and green I think means it is ok. If the plant were diseased or dead the cane would be brown/black.

But, others are more knowledgeable than I am.

I also do NOT think it is a problem, just a dormant cane. Where are you, approximately? It helps to know the climate.

Do you know its full name (there are lots of roses whose names start with "comte")?

One thing I do know, roses HATE to be indoors! If it is not that cold, I would put it back on the balcony, in the most sun, and stop spraying it with fungicide, and stop feeding it until it starts to sprout. Do keep watering it, of course. More roses are killed with "kindness" than for other reasons...

Someone gave me a Mark Chagall rose in January this year. It was a barefoot rose and it looked a bit dried out, but still green. I soaked it overnight, planted it in the ground the next day and have faithfully watered it these 5 months. There's not a single bit of growth that I can see, but the canes are still green and alive, although the eyes are black. Mine looks just like yours. Two weeks ago I decided to replace it with another rose I bought, Queen of Elegance. It needed to get in the ground asap, so I took the shovel and carefully dug around my Marc Chagall, just in case...guess what! That dormant cane has been putting on a whole beautiful network of growth below ground! So I potted it up, put my other rose in its place and I will continue watering and caring for MC. I expect sooner or later he will suddenly put out leaves and be a lovely rose! Best wishes on your rose, Cute Pofi. It will be worth the wait once you get that first bloom!

Yes, roses grow roots before they do anything else. A too anxious gardener who does not see any top growth on a still green cane just has to remember that "patience is a virtue".
