How long has this rose been there?

A huge % of unidentified, once-blooming, red climbers do turn out to be 'Dr. Huey'.

I think the white stripe is just light reflection but I will try and get a better picture of the blooms when sun is not shining on them. They are definitely a bright pink but not quite as much as the pictures show.

Jeri-I included a picture of the whole plant taken last week. It does have thors but they are relatively small.

The rose was planted no later than 2008 but no sooner than the mid 1970s. My guess would be the 90s, sorry that is such a vague time. I know which owner planted it but they owned the house for many decades.

When we bought the house, the rose hasn't been maintained for many years and it was probably around 20ft long (laying on the ground).

The color does not look like Dr. Huey to me but I'll wait for it to fully open to see if it has that Dr. Huey center.

Also wanted to add the owner who planted it, told me she planted it because it had no scent (she doesn't like the smell of roses) and was pink. So that makes me believe it has held onto it's original characteristics vs Dr. Huey being old rootstock. Unless she planted Dr. Huey to begin with. Hope that makes sense.

So I got home from work and gave the buds more inspection, there is a tiny bit of white streaking. I don't think it is intrigue but does this point it farther away from Dr. Huey. I also gave it another scent and the slight fragrance is back. I also took a picture of another bud that is about to open and you can see the slight white flecks there too.

Does anyone know, are there any labs that will do DNA analysis to ID rose varieties?

Pretty rose! I should preface every forum ID that I attempt with “I am often really bad at identifying roses on a computer screen,” but with that said, your rose’s foliage looks to me like it might be Hybrid Musky. Carol

I was thinking of maybe Vanity, but that would repeat and I think you’d notice a fragrance. Ditto Nur Mahal. Fragrant and repeat bloom. My Dr. Huey is deeply red, and I think our garden climates and soil are similar? So, a Huey at your place would likely look close to mine in bloom.

Thank you for this picture. I have an unknown rose that looks just like it. It is small and upright but my recollection of the plant I took the cutting from long ago is that it did have long canes. It has been in first one unsuitable place then another since I propagated it, but last year I brought it into the European section and it is blooming now. One of my friends admired it because of the color, but I prefer Tuscany and La Belle Sultane with their brilliant golden centers.

Very pretty rose (and garden!). I would agree, definitely not close in color specifically give our similar climates. I think a few more are in bloom so umm take another pic.
