Suggestions for accent wall color behind white sofa to use with pale gray walls?

I like the color you have now. On my screen it gives a blue green gray effect and I think it looks great. If you have to chance it I’d go a bit more blue.

I would not accent paint that wall. It will chop up the room unnecessarily. Art, large scale art would be appropriate and elegant.

Why do you think it needs to be painted? What are you trying to accomplish?

I see no reason to accent that wall. I'd rather see you get a larger rug to ground the space.

Accent walls divide a room. I would add more color in art and accessories, like your decorator pillows. All tones in those colors and maybe a 3rd accent color.

Art, vases, bowls, candlesticks, books , sculptures or book boxes.

I need a bigger picture of the space. i like the color it is now, maybe one big print over couch. It's hard to get a feel for the whole space

I see that you added the richly colored pillows and the glass sculpture in the room to try to bring some color into the room and my guess is that you love color and this just isn't enough, and because everything else is so neutral they kind of stick out like sore thumbs.

I see that you are looking at light blues from the samples on the wall.

I think to add color I would

1 - replace the area carpet

2 Lighten and brighten the walls - don't go too bright - Walls have a lot of space so colors appear brighter - SW Sea Salt is close to the maximum amount of color I would add - I used Rainwashed as a demonstration, but the online tools sometimes look less colorful than when you have it in a room.

    2. Brighten the Art work

These were quick choices (Have to get to work)- you would need to match the colors a bit better, but it gives you some ideas.

You are not going to get many agreeing on an accent wall in this forum, for some reason its a big no-no. If you don't want an area rug though, it is a way to bring in some additional color. I used one in my beige living room to add some color because I didn't want carpet on top of carpet. Rugs also divide a space, especially in a small space. My living room is small so not a lot of room to add in color. Do you have drapes in the room? Maybe add color there if you don't want an area rug. I really like your home, its very pretty.

Joy, I found those rugs on Rugs-Direct.com and I think the size was approx. 8x10, but I can't be sure. You'll need to measure in your space.

I personally am not against accent walls, but you have to be careful where you use them.

Your room is not wide and having a bright color advance in the space just might not be the best solution. Also, your paint color is so calming, I think it's a great color for the total space.

I like beverlys idea. you could use an overdyed rug, the pillows, and think about tiling the front of the peninsula and bringing in 'lighter' stools. I think the current ones are too heavy looking. Ditto the darker, heavy framed art work

Clear acrylic stools and turquoise glass mosaic tiles.

I noticed you have bold orange. might be nice w/the geometric turquoise tiles

other shots of the room with other things i’ve used. wondering if larger carpet wouldn’t cover too much of hardwood wood but Beverly’s idea appeals to me. also tiling bar back to lighten the space. what about mirroring it??

Beautiful job! I would just add more coral and blue accessories on the bar cabinet, the counter bar top and some artwork with those colors. Add a print coral and blue lumbar pillow on a chair. Add 1-2 small blue decor items on the coffee table, remove one of the vases there. I think you did very well.

Mirroring the back of the bar would definitely brighten the room and double the crotch shots!

I’m looking out the window at your glorious view and wondering why you are trying to rivet attention inside the smaller space of the room with dark graphics, flash things, and saturated colors rather than bringing in more of great wide open to extend the space. In particular I suggest removing the two black chairs near the window that sit there like a wall in favor of chairs lighter and brighter, with a more open profile.

If you absolutely don’t want to give up a deep comfy lounge chair near the window maybe something like this or in a very light grey

If you want to tile the base of your bar, borrow the cobalt blue of your Murano glass, which will send the eye back out to the view. Personally I would do something less expensive than tiling, like paint or peel-stick wallpaper

Tuck more of the rug under the white sofa.

Personally I don't like the use of bright accent colors in your space, it just doesn't fit to my eye. I like the suggestion of a reflective surface of some kind at the bar and I like your use of other reflective surfaces in the space. I think I would use texture and stay in the more calming color palette IMO. Nice view there!

I don't think the use of an accent wall in this space would be successful. I like accent walls in square rooms. But, I don't think that they work well with rectangular spaces. The proportion is off.

You have successfully pulled off a neutral space. It's very calming. I think that it is most attractive. I would focus on some textural pillows in neutral colors for comfort and stop. I would remove the colored pillows that you have and replace them with soft textured neutral pillows. That is a beautiful piece of glass on the table. IMO, that's the star. Anything with color will compete with the glass.
