Not a doctor ken, I am in Dubai. I’m not sure why the leaf tips are brown. It’s currently summer here so no cold event. What is zone pushing?

Zone pushing is in reference to your climate and whether it is appropriate for the plant. Pomegranates, according to the internet, grows in USDA zone 7-10 ... Dubai is equivalent to USDA zone 10b, so not out of range for a pomegrate.

I haven't grown pomegranates, as it's too cold here, but here's an article about pomegranate flowers and fertility:

Excerpts from that article:

"Unfruitfulness and poor seed development in flowering plants can be a consequence of a number of factors including insufficient maternal resources (i.e., carbon allocation, nutrition, flower quality), flower age effects on receptivity, and inadequate pollen delivery (i.e., lack of pollinators, inviable pollen, sexual incompatibility)."

"Flower type and position strongly affected flower quality. Single flowers and terminal flowers within clusters were larger and contained more ovules than lateral flowers within a cluster. Almost half of the lateral flowers had abortive ovules on dissection and were thus incapable of setting fruit."

So that would imply one of the following:

• the plant is unhappy and is therefore aborting fruits to save energy/nutrients
• many of the flowers lack fruiting bodies (functionally male)
• the female flowers didn't get pollinated

I'd be trying to figure out what's going on with the growing leaf tips ...

It looks like there could be a salt build-up in your soil from irrigation. Perhaps your water even has some salinity in it? Anyway, that could explain the dried up leaf edges.

As to the dropping of blooms, that may have something to do with erratic watering. Too dry perhaps. Keep in mind that pomegranates have male and female flowers. Male flowers just offer pollen. Once they open up and they give their pollen, they're done and fall off. Only female flowers will develop fruit.

How can I confirm that? If that is the case, how do I fix it?
