Hello, I’m looking for front door advice.

I am looking to get a front door and new front steps. I going for a semi modern farmhouse look. The siding up top will be creamy white board and batten and the stucco below will be paint in the same creamy white. I would like either a natural color door or a black door. I don’t want anything that has windows on the lower part of the door (security conscious). What ideas do you all have? I think I’m going to go with a black door, for a total black snd white look. The brick will be replaced with black bricks or covered with a natural boxed look. Thanks for the ideas in advance.

    Another pic

Also, what can I do with that small space above the window? I wanted to use natural colored dowel like pieces, maybe 3-5 but it’s so small. The gable might have to go there. I’m choosing a black gable if so.

The only brick is the brick below the windows?
I’d just paint or whitewash that to match the rest of the house.
You can leave it too. Will look fine either way.
    What’s the current door color?
    So many choices.
    Black is perfect.
    Wood is also gorgeous.
    Blues...
    Endless options :)

Thanks, the bricks (the only brick) will be replaced with black brick or removed all together. The door will be black. The lawn in front will be scaled back to accommodate small patios on both sides under the windows, with a knee wall on both sides. That’s the plan. Once the pitch is removed it will reveal more of the bottom part of the house in the front. Not a lit but some. Yhe lawn has to be graded correctly. Black bricks for the knee wall. Thanks for your input. Keep the ideas alive!!!😂

    Update

The size of the dormer suites me fine. I would rather have a dormer with that presence than a little bitty window. It also allows more space and not wasted space.

The idea was to center the dormer on the roof and after doing that, we have that size dormer. Thanks for the input.

One the siding gets on it hopefully won’t seem so obviously large. If it does I’m still fine with it.

I like the look. You could do color blocking. Here are some ideas. Two use the color of the roof.

Match the upper dormer siding to the gray roof color, not white, for a more intentional design.

@houssaon the siding is already ordered in white. The soffits, fascia, and gutters are all in black. Can you give me a pic of those specifics with 2 side sitting areas at ground level (after grading is done) below the windows? The steps will be more like this pic with a retaining wall in front of the steps and the 2 sitting areas behind the retaining wall.

Half wall with tall greenery. The steps will have the retaining wall in front of it, across the front of the house

I am not sure I understand the retaining wall. Are the sitting areas and the steps behind the wall? It would look like a plain old wall from the front of the house. How tall is the wall?

Yes the steps and sitting area are behind the wall. There will be steps behind the wall going to the right onto the driveway. The depth of the 2 patios would probably be @ 12 ft deep.

Thanks so much @houssaon. Your help is sooo appreciated.

I didn't recognize your house until you posted Yardvaark suggestion. It has come a long way. Well done.

The wall would probably be @ 2-3 ft high with grass plants across for some privacy, perhaps

I have no written plan I’m winging it. 😳🙄😂😂😂

This is the exact door I was planning to use. Not ordered yet.

Actually the 2 panel door, the bricks will be black I think. Should I break it up with gray brick?

Yea, it’s come a long way any a long time too😂😂😂. Contractors!!!! Delay and more delays. Total rehab, gutted.

Going for this look with the black and white.

    Porch is down

Yes, I think you should use gray brick for the porch, not black.

What are you building your walls with? You could just do horizontal fencing.

I like the door you are getting. You should order sooner rather than later. Even in-stock items are taking weeks to be delivered.

Your do right I’m ordering tomorrow and the lead time is 8-14 weeks🙄🙄🙄😳😳😳
