Could you post another picture with the clusters in focus? So far they could just be flower buds but it’s hard to tell. I don’t know a cultivar called Fairy Pink but others do have some fuzziness, eg Elfin.

here’s another try at a photo but I don’t think it’s any clearer. I think the photo looks not focused because the clusters themselves are fuzzy looking. In fact, if I zoom the photo in, I can see little fine white hairs all over the clusters and leaves too.

I looked for the tag but must have thrown it out. It had The botanical name of thymus praecus from what I recall. I think the words “fairy pink” might have just been a cutesy gimmick because I remember the card had a drawing of a dainty little pink fairy on it.

If it’s a Thymus praecox cultivar the fuzzy buds are normal, as are the whiskery leaves.

So will the fuzzy buds bloom flowers soon?

As I said, because the pictures are out of focus it’s hard to tell if they’re just the normal fuzzy buds or whether there is some other issue in addition. But, yes, the regular flower buds on this species would be fuzzy.

ground hugging plants like a good much ... cover that bare soil.. or you may have watering issues when it gets hot ... baking soil doenst make very low plants happy ... the mulch will keep the soil cooler.. and allow the plant the night time cooler recovery period they like ..

Ken, you are so right about mulch. I thought of that but no way is the mulch I have going to stay put on that slope. It washes right off.

Didn’t get to try a pic at a 45 degree angle before it got too dark. Will try tomorrow.
