Who is this beauty?

This is from RVR last month and supposed to be a mini, Bordure Nacree, but it apparently isn't. It's light pink without any hint of apricot or yellow, and has moderate to strong fragrance and flower shape is also different. I've done some research on RVR site, and these are some candidates:

Duchesse de Montebello

Belle Isis

Souvenir de la Malmaison

Do you know who she is?

I might have initially guessed bell Isis given that it starts with a B. and could easily be mixed up that way. However the buds Look very different from those of BI Being long rather than round. Do you have any pictures that show the buds more developed?

The Duchesse also seems to have these extremely charming rounded buds.

Thanks Vap. This is another bud photo.

I'm going to stick with the not being well Isis based on those buds if you look at pictures on HMFIT will see that On very distinctive. I did not grow bell Isis but I have seen it growing nearby so I'm slightly familiar with that will

Yap. I see. Belle Isis's and Duchesse de Montebello's sepals are totally different. Maybe it's not a Gallica. I'd like to grow this rose, but since I have only limited space, I need to know its ID to decide where it will go. It is so vigorous that it has sent a brand new shoot after I got it. Sincerely hope it's not a climber. LOL

I went and took a look at your suggested varieties on HMF and the photos there tended to confirm what I was thinking. The growth of your mystery rose doesn't look like that of a Gallica, and from the photos on HMF I'd rule out SDLM as well. My impression is that it's a modern rose, but I have no idea which.

It’s definitely not either of the Gallicas you mentioned (foliage is completely wrong for the class), nor is it ‘Souvenir de la Malmaison’, also because the foliage is not a match. Whatever it is, it’s very modern.

I wouldn’t assume it’s mislabeled - plenty of photos of it on HMF appear pink with little or no apricot.

Regardless of what the rose is, it is drop dead gorgeous! You should propagate it and sell it. (though it might be patented)

Melissa, I've email Scott to ask who she may be. So many pink roses out there, we need to be very lucky to know the ID exactly.

Paul, thanks for your precious information. Knowing the general traits of different rose classes seems to be an important skill. I've grown roses for only 3 years and I'd like to learn more about it. Do you know where I can find these resources? BTW, just curious, is it possible that a mini has 3"-4" flowers? Also, I started to have doubts about the ID because this rose does have significant scent, but both RVR and HMF say Bordure Nacree has no fragrance. I wish I can describe it. Unfortunately my untrained nose couldn't tell what it's like.

erasmus, thanks for sharing the picture. Your Belle Isis is beautiful! I just got Paul's Marianne as my first Gallica. Finally I found a good place for it. I wish I can have more, but suckers is too challenging for a small garden.

GardeningTeenager, if I were the breeder, I definitely would!

@Feiy (PNWZ8b/9a) 'Marianne' is a hybrid Gallica, and does not sucker. So no need to worry about that.

Learning how to identify the various classes by their features is a skill acquired by familiarity. I can't think of a single book that conveys those skills, but Peter Beales is always worth seeking out.

If your rose has a strong scent, its not likely 'Bordure Nacree', no. But its thoroughly modern in pedigree - its that glossy foliage. That rules out 'Souvenir de la Malmaison', which has matte green foliage.

Gosh that's beautiful. I want to know what it is also.

Those leaves in flowers sort of remind me of Cinderella fairy tale.

Paul, good to know that Marianne does no suckers. I may have a better spot for her.

Vap, it's a pity RVR doesn't carry it. LOL.

That's funny! I did write but I have to check and see if they carry her But somehow it got erased. I will look through the holdings and see if I recognize anything. It looks so familiar. I have a Lot of pink roses

Actually, looking through there list they do carry Cinderella Fairytale. I grow this rose so recognize the leaves. The strange thing is they have it as out of stock and next to it have Cinderella climbing miniature as in stock. However, the picture for Cinderella fairytale and Cinderella climbing miniature are exactly the same. If you look on HMF you will see that Cinderella climbing miniature has completely different leaves so they have some sort of a mix up at RVR. Either they only carry 1 rose under 2 different names or they have the pictures confused.

Oh, they call it "Cinderella" instead of "Cinderella Fairytale". I searched the wrong keyword. Thank you for checking it out. But compare with the early stage of blooming, Cinderella Fairytale looks more "ball", and the bud shape is different too. I don't think it's Cinderella.

Mine is coming into bud as we speak. I will check it out tomorrow. I had not compared Pictures on HMF just checking if RVR carried it. Yes the buds do seem less elongated on Cinderella. There is a similarity as they mature. My buds are just Developing So I'll see how they look.

I’m sorry you didn’t get what you ordered, but it is beautiful. Will they send you replacement since they sent the wrong one?

I'm not sure what they will do. It's the second time I got mislabeled rose and last time I got refunded.

    Update:

I got Scott's message that it might be Blessed Child. Looks like it's a match. I'm so impressed by its vigor and healthiness. After finishing its first 4 flowers, the new basal shoot has reached 2' and there're another 13 little buds now. I don't know why I didn't hear about this rose before. I still want to get a Bordure Nacree but am very glad to get this one though.

Please keep us updated on how it performs for you over the season. RVR's photo looks like the flowers fade to white. Your photos show a very beautiful flower!

Blessed Child -- begins with a "B". Always figured that if I ordered something with "Mme" or "Mrs" in its name from RVR, I would really be pushing it :-). Once got Mme Pierre Ogier for Mme Caroline Testout, for example,,,. Be that as it may, Blessed Child looks like a nice rose, though not what was wanted.

@noseometer...(7A, SZ10, Albuquerque). Sure. I'm also curious about how it will do for me. I think the pinker look is due to our cool and cloudy spring here. There're more pictures on HMF look like mine. BTW, Since it grows so fast, I think I need to find a spot for it in fall, which is rare because I always keep band roses in 2 gallon pots for at least one year. This one is very likely ready to break my "rule". LOL.
