I’d start over. And would close up the hole for the plant. You can always add pretty planters which I think would enhance the space beautifully

Porch - start from scratch and make sure any "wood" does not touch the concrete foundation (to prevent rot). No hole, just great pots as suggested.

Landscaping - Love the tree on the right, very sculptural. Your "bushes" would benefit from reducing height and width by half. Sorry to say, that big evergreen tree has got to go. It will soon be way too large for the space available. Perhaps you can have it moved IF there's sufficient space for its mature size.
