my morning glories are sad...HELP?!

I planted my morning glories about 3 months ago from seeds. They are growing but look wilty and some yellow and die. What am I doing wrong? They were in morning shade originally and didn’t like that. I didn’t water for a few days didn’t like that. Full sun don’t like that. Water every other day or daily don’t like that. IM LOST! Should I try putting them in the ground?! :(

the most important thing in a pot.. is the media .. not the plant.. what did you use .. did you moisten it first??

they look very dry ... why arent you watering.. and the soil below looks even drier.. where are you.. big city name ...

take a hand trowel.. or tablespoon.. and dig a few 3 or 4 inch holes.. and find out if there is any moisture at root depth ...

do the pots have drain holes ...

i think the media is also not properly balanced.. try giving them some water sol fert ...

finally .. you have tiny plants.. in huge pots.. sometimes that just doesnt work out.. its like the plants want to fill the pot with roots before they do anything above .. often you are better off.. starting seed in smaller pots.. and then moving to a bigger pot.. and then finally into the huge pot ...

why didnt you just plant them in the ground ...

i would probably move them to bright shade. and perfect watering .. and move them back out when they wake up ...

    Thanks Ken.

    1. The soil under is very moist
    2. There are drain holes on the bottom
    3. They were on even cement in bright shade for a while and didn’t seem to like it.
    4. Where I have them placed now is even
    5. I am in Sacramento CA
    6. I stated then from seeds so I chose these pots trying to avoid having to repot them.
    7. I didn’t start in the ground because I was told starting in a pot is better. Perhaps bad advice.

See pic for moist soil. Just took photo.

    Thanks for all the advice!

I should also add I started them in bright shade and watering daily and they just didn’t grow. :/ is it too late to transplant into the ground? If I do should I use fertilizer?
