problem with a knockout tree rose

Over the last 24 to 48 hours this knockout tree rose has completely wilted. It is still green . Buds and flowers completely drooped down. This is its second season planted. The only activity that has taken place near it was the planting of three salvia and some periwinkles. The soil is not dry nor we believe over watered. We did do a light mulch about 5 days ago but the other two knockout trees near it are doing well. Would appreciate any suggestions.

plz insert a pic in a reply ...

may as will throw in big city location... seems you touched on the usual left out info.. so good job ... i might suspect NJ... but you know what when we assume ...

did you personally do the mulching ... no chance of some large men hitting the plant with tools or big boots or bobcats... etc ...??

the less than 48 hours part is bothersome ... one wouldnt expect such for a garden process ... if you get what i mean ...

    pic plz

Thank you for responding. I tried posting a picture and thought all was correct but it did not show up so I will try to figure that out. Yes coastal NJ is correct. Mulching was by hand done by us. I have grown roses for years. All hybrid teas. Excellent climate for them except for the ocean wind of course. I am now scaling down to knockouts.....will try again to get the picture up.

why is it still staked .. ???

is it not secure in the ground after a whole year .. in the ground???

are we sure the ropes arent strangling it?? .. is there a rope to the fence also.. and is that a wood stick on the trunk ...

Lol, I hate those stakes. My husband did remove some type of wire from the stake today but he said it wasn't tight. We'll see. Yes, it is tied to the fence too. We are across from the ocean. I'd rather that be the problem then some root eating bug. The winds here can brutal but it may be time to remove that thing. Thanks for the observation. I hope its not too late to revive it.
