Will the new windows be the same size as existing windows? Will they be black like these?

I would remove all the shutters. what are the sidewalls to those lower windows, concrete?

The windows will be the same size. The existing windows are the original aluminum bronze sliders. The new windows are Kolbe Forgents (bronze fiberglass exterior, wood interior). I think the old windows may be faded so the Forgents will be darker.

I don't know what those sidewalls are. The previous owners stucco'd the bottom exterior. I have no idea why they're there. The funny thing is that I never even thought about them until I started this window project.

I don't mind eliminating the shutters. I'm just not sure what type of trim would look good.

I would do a retractable screen door the same color as the door trim. I think the shutters make the windows look larger which is always a good thing to me.

Thanks kathylawyer. Funny you should mention that. I just replaced the bronze retractable screen door I had on the back door. We have a new cat and he discovered how to open it so I had to replace it with a regular screen door!

I actually never put the screen in the door in the front. I like to keep the door open and don't like running up and down the stairs to close it when the air's on. Good idea though. Thanks for the suggestions!

Definitely remove the shutters. They just don't do anything for your house. Have you considered getting a new more modern light for over the front door.

If you can have the storm door painted, I would do that. Paint the frame and muntins around the sidelights dark too.

houssaon & Lyn Nielson, do you have any suggestions about window trim if I don't put the shutters back on? Trim around all sides using the trim color, field color or bronze? Thanks!

I like the current gray. It is subtle. But matching the window frame, it would be dramatic and very contemporary.

houssaon, would it work to have the window trim in the current shutter color? The reason I ask is because exterior colors (paint colors are from a stucco collection. picked because lower half of house is stucco) aren't really modern. Probably hard to tell online but the shutters are more of a sandstone, field is more of a cream & roof is shades of browns. Since I can't trim out the bottom windows I'm wondering if the dark trim on top windows might look odd.

houssaon's mockup looks great. Definitely no shutters on this style windows.
