just get rid of the conifer.. there are so many options to replace it with ...

if you are going to all the bother to dig it up.. then drag it to the curb ...

the rhodie .. well.. first.. where are you in every post.. big city name ...

the new growth looks pretty good.. though a little pale .... just wondering what happened to the older leaves ... how bad was winter.. has it always been mulched.. looks very bone dry from what i can see of what i think is soil ...

they are very shallow rooted.. and prefer dampish ... not soggy... root zone ...

would i keep it?? ... depends if it pisses me off every time i walk in the yard ... if it were out back on my 5 acres... sure.. why not .. if its on the corner of my deck or patio .. see above re: curb ... you could probably buy a new one for less than fixing this one ... though im not current on prices ...

I hear you on the first one. I think it’s the best direction.

It’s in the worst possible part of our yard for wind and exposure. I’m just north of Toronto so we aren’t that bad from a winter perspective, but old owners didn’t bother to do a bit of gardening. I was thinking of moving it to the dappled shade bed by the house. I thought the house might help shelter it and I can always burlap it.

Also happy to test soil and try to improve things. I enjoy projects and saving things that seem hopeless :)
