**UPDATE! SOLVED** Concrete question

last modified: 5 years ago

Hi, our front steps were poured about 48 hours ago. I'm very confused.. new build in a community with an HOA. Not one other home has steps that are this dark. Could this be a fresh concrete color or does it look intentional? I've done searches on Google for "How dark is fresh concrete" and haven't come up with a similar picture. I'm patiently waiting to contact the builder tomorrow, just wanted to know if any experts had any insight. Thank you in advance!

    Something doesn't look right.

That's what I thought too. I was pretty shocked. A couple more hours until I call the builder

IMO the steps at that direction are also wrong IMO steps to and entry should face the entry and that might involve doing a bit of preplanning right now the only people easily using those steps are the ones who got to park their car at the front of the garage. Yes the concrete is certainly darker than the rest of the concrete work too bad it was not all done that darker color IMO a much better choice with the siding.

I think the stairs should have been wider and come out a few steps before they turned back to the driveway.

If it's been 48 hours I don't know how much more that's going to lighten up. Curious to hear what the builder says.

I agree that the layout of the steps is a dumpster fire, but it's important to remember this is a mass production homebuilder. All they care about regarding steps and walkways is will it get us a certificate of occupancy for the home, so that the buyer is now paying interest, not us. That's it.

Thank you for the replies! Yes, Revolutionary Gardens is correct. It's a mass production home builder. The steps were decided by whoever drew up the lot plan (between builder and city). We spent most of our money on structual/design upgrades inside the home and for a 34×10 ft covered extended back patio. I do wish the area looked a bit different but a front elevation change would have put us over our set budget. I can live with that. I'm just having trouble with the color of the steps.

I should be hearing back from the builder soon!

Looks much better, but I have to wonder why the steps don't go to the front with a short connecting walk to the drive.

Anyway, it looks much better now that it has dried.

I actually liked the dark better.

Unless you add railing on the stoop on that right side above and to the right of that first step, and all around the outside of the steps, you're likely going to end up with a stumble hazard for your entrance.

Yes they will be adding a railing and a pillar
