Oh, my goodness! Another must have for pink rose lovers. I ordered it last year, but it came so early, it died before my ground thawed, and I had to replace it with a different rose.

I'm definitely making room for it again. Your photos are gorgeous!

Many Lowes in TX carry Scentuous this year

@tozmo1 will do. I plant mine in 18height and 22in wide pot.

What a stunning example of Scentuous, htracyn. I want to grow this one--maybe our Lowe's is carrying it. This surprises me, because Scentuous is a Tantau rose first called Gartentraume, and these newer Tantau's are hard to get. Yours is just gorgeous. Diane

@htracyn79 PNW-8B I bought Scentuous from Lowes recently, but the blooms do not last long at all in the heat. I live in TX (zone 9b) and the the blooms only last a day and they are so droopy in the heat and do not look pretty. I love this rose and I am planning to do a rose hedge with it in the front yard, but I am not so sure now. Is yours also like that? I wonder if they will get better as they mature.

Thank you for your photos. Gorgeous! I've been surprised at how small the bush is -- so I think growing it in a pot would be a good thing. Mine might be overpowered by its neighbors. Isn't the fragrance just incredible? I love this rose. I can't wait for mine to mature and look more like yours!

‘Scentuous’ after 104F, 100F and a week of 99F on the southeast side of the house. This flower was in the second day for this photo and will last one more day before dropping. Not the best photo, it was too hot for me to stand being out there. Please ignore the rabbit wire.

I can’t vouch for the growth habits though. Mine seems rather quirky, but so far very compact. Maybe someone who has grown this longer can chime in.

Update: in the third week of 100 degree temperatures, Scentuous is not so happy. The flowers are much smaller and the latest ones fried upon opening. It's been getting daily watering but maybe it needs more. A bit of a disappointment, but it's done about as well as PAoK and Bishop's Castle.

I have many roses whose blooms have totally fried. Probably the worst is The Prince with nothing but crunch--he'd make a good cereal--Prince Crunch for breakfast. Ebb Tide is awful, too, and so much worse than Twilight Zone. I don't blame poor Scentuous for frying. This weather is not normal, and it will get worse in the future, I fear. Diane

I don't blame Scentuous for frying either. My reds are the worst also: Mustead Wood and WS2K don't even bother opening before frying in the bud. You could add those to your Prince Crunch.

But, yeah, the heat isn't so funny. Global warming is horrible.

Carol, do you still have that 99F prediction? Our 100s keep extending out, so Mon is 108F, Tues is 109F, and Wed is 110F, and that is far out as the predictions go. Right now Tamora has no blooms, either, and that is highly unusual. This weather is separating the men from the boys. Colette hasn't had any blooms for about a week. Jude's last blooms are going fast. So which roses are still hanging in there? Golden Celebration, Augusta Luise, both Love Songs, Boscobel, and others. Olivia Rose, so highly thought of, is down to three or four blooms. Brother Cadfael and four Evelyns are hanging on to some blooms for dear life. Both Ascots have a lot of good blooms left, as does Rouge Royale, though he's had a lot of crunchies, too. My big grafted Julias have quite a few blooms, but have lost a gazillion to the crunchies, Young Lycidas still has quite a few blooms, too, surprisingly. Angel Face is bereft of blooms, and two of my Bernstein-Rose plants have quite a few blooms. The difference between roses that can take it and and the heat wimps is huge. You should see my small front yard. Totally covered with rose petals, probably the most by far of Julia Child. I continue to deadhead like crazy, and water constantly with the drip system. Diane

Diane - yes, we do!! I can't believe it!! Thursday is cool with rain....but then it starts to heat up!! It's interesting that LS, Bos, AL and GC are doing so well...they're all such very double roses. Hang in there, dear Diane...you're doing great with keeping up with the heat and maintaining your roses.

Hello, is anyone still there reading this thread? especially the rose experts who have grown the beautiful scentuous roses? :-) I ordered 3 this year and am wondering if I could plant them 3’ apart - will it be too crowded? Thanks very much in advance for your information!

I’m not a rose expert, i do grow this rose since I’m a roseaholic(lol), so i put 3 roses in one large 20-gallon container, Olive Austin, Scentuous, and Peace and Harmony. i got this rose from the Huntington Library.

I cant find the picture anymore, but at the start it’s the same size as Oiive Austin, but now Olive Austin is a lot bigger. I'm thinking of moving Olive Austin to the ground. Scentuous doesn't repeat as well as Olive Austin.

edit to add, i found a picture of this container, Olive Austin in the front, Scentuous is in the back to the right, not obvious in this picture.

I have 4 Scentuous that I planted 2-ft apart in a square formation last year. I wanted that full look without much space in between when they are more mature. This is a picture from last week. No filter is used.

@Santosob your rose is very beautiful! Could u share a photo of 4 of them 2-ft apart? I can imagine how pretty they are when they all bloom! I am also in 9b Thank you for the info!

@Michelle Zhou They're not looking very pretty right now since it is getting cold here, so they look sparse :( I do want to say that most of my roses were hit by thrips VERY badly this year, but Scentuous has remained strong and healthy.

@socalgardennut: How did you get Peace and Harmony from the Huntington? Was it at one of their plant sales? I’ve seen it in their rose garden, and it looks very beautiful. Have you had it long? How has it performed for you compared to Scentuous and Olivia Austin?

@Desert Rose (10a Sunset 19), i got it last year from Huntington Library from their plant sales. So far out of those 3 roses Olive Austin is the healthiest.

SoCal, I love your Scentuous, but Peace and Harmony is even more beautiful to my eye. I like the ekstra color and this rose's bloom structure so much. I just checked P&H on HMF, but there are only a couple of photos because it's so new. Your photo would be a great addition to HMF's photos. Is the Huntington the only place selling Peace and Harmony? I just did some research on the rose Peace and Harmony. It was named by Toshe Mosure, a member of Huntington's Board of Directors, and a philanthropist born in Hiroshima, Japan. Sadly, she passed away before the rose was formally introduced. I guess I'll have to make a trip to the Huntington to get this rose. I do want it. Diane

I would say Scentuous is less thorny than average for a rose, (but there are definitely thorns still!)

When I switched my orders completely from Regan's to Managerie, I lost Scentuous. If somebody saw it somewhere, please let me know. I signed for updates on HD site.

Maybe check Lowes and HD come body bag season, Elena. Several people got Scentuous there this year. Very odd that all the online sellers are sold out.

I saw a lot of Scentuous in body bags at Menards (a local Home Depot type store). I'm pretty sure if you cruise big box stores in your area you'd have a chance of finding one.
