Thanks Ken! it’s a Royalty crabapple. Behind it is a Picea pungens Baby Blue (not Baby Blue Eyes) that I hope will eventually bring a greater contrast.

Mine always succumbed to some kind of crown rot. But Ajuga 'Chocolate Chip' has proved very tough.

I don't know if Burgundy Glow is that aggressive. At least it wasn't in my yard. I tried it three time and it died out on my haha! Too bad, as I think it's very nice, obviously!

I've tried multiple varieties of ajuga, including chocolate chip and they barely lasted two seasons. I thought they were supposed to grow well and be agressive in shade and part shade. That is what I have a lot of. Last year I tried burgundy glow in my only full sun bed on a small slope and that's the only location that came back. So this spring I divided it up and moved two divisions along that slope to increase it. It was so pretty with the purple flowers next to the lavender color phlox subulata in the spring that I paired them up along that slope.

I don't know what is wrong with spell check on Houzz, sometimes it auto corrects something in a completely wrong way, then today it failed to auto correct aggressive. Guess you still need to check your own spelling. [g]
