Idk, but for inexpensive sheets, I've used Lysol sanitizer in the rinse cycle - costs a bit. Amazon, etc...

Bleach won't turn cotton sheets yellow. You need to find all cotton sheets, white if you want to routinely add chlorine bleach to the wash.

You can try using white vinegar instead of bleach. i use it on my towels; in my front load washer, i fill the soap and softener compartments with vinegar, then run a short cycle. followed by another short cyle with detergent

Oh for heaven sake!!! Buy some nice all cotton LL Bean and go right ahead and bleach. Best? LL Bean 400 count Egyptian cotton. I love them, I BLEACH them......and they just get better and better.

Maybe you will replace at the end of a couple years....who cares? They wash and dry beautifully warm and permanent press and if bleached? Warm is ALL you need

Anything washed in soap and warm water IS sanitized. : ) Bleached or not.

Wouldnt dryer sanitize, or even on the line in the suun?

Thanks to all of you. I don't have to do the wash myself, but the housekeeper is a bleach fanatic. She has a limited amount of time to get laundry done; sometimes for 10 beds. At home, I dry on the line after a vinegar rinse (don't even have a dryer!). Gonna try loobab's suggestion of Powerizer, so the sheets don't get destroyed. Sorry, Jan! I love LL Bean too, but that's a bit too pricey for our situation. Still shopping! BTW, mattresses are standard depth, not the newer deep ones, if anyone runs across appropriately sized sheets to recommend.

I have not used bleach in my laundry for 18 yrs I use oxyclean on all my whites I too love cotton sheets . BTW get a nice washing machine with a sani cycle if that is real important part of your life I have Bosch with thta cycle and when I need something to be really clean and sanitized I use that . BTW your housekeeper should not be telling you how to wash your stuff. I assume this is a small hotel or B&B. Also by the time the sheets have been washed and dried they are sanitized . Just hot water and a hot dryer will do that.

I only use Oxyclean...never bleach and wash with Tide. All my bedding is white and have stayed a crisp white. Hot water (if not 100% cotton) or the sani cycle should help as well.

Just an update. New housekeeper! lol BTW, Patricia - we have commercial Matags that are very nice.
