Looking for Macaroni salad like the store bought

I can make macaroni salad but the noodles are not coated like you get in the supermarket. I use mayo and add ranch dressing also but after a little while in the refrigerator the noodles are naked!

What am I doing wrong, my salad is just not creamy & coated like the store.

Are you letting the pasta drain really good before you make the salad? Also, don't rinse the pasta since the sticky coating from the boiling water would also help the sauce adhere.... at least it does for regular tomato sauces.

Maybe you just need to add more of the sauce until you get the consistency you want.

We have a restaurant here that has really good tasting Potato Salad but it's not creamy enough for me... rather dry. When I get it home I just add more Mayo and then it's to my liking. 😁 Perhaps you can do the same with your Pasta Salad.

This is the sauce part from a recipe that has been passed down thru the generations:

1/2 quart Miracle Whip

11/2 T. milk

1 T. Vinegar

1 tsp. sugar.
