Clearance needed for laundry room sink

We are renovating our laundry room. Currently, we have a cast iron sink (16 W x 20 D x 12 H). The faucet is installed to the right rather than the back because the base cabinets are only 19" deep (see photos).

It has been a nightmare trying to find a replacement sink for this space. Then, I realized that instead of trying to find an undermount cast iron sink, I might be better off looking for an apron front sink that could potentially stick out an inch or two beyond the counter. FYI - we plan to install a granite countertop.

Question: How much clearance do we need at the back of the sink if we are NOT installing the faucet in the back?

I'm currently entertaining the following sinks:

Whitehaus Quatro Alcove 36" Large Reversible Fireclay Kitchen Sink with Integral Drainboard

Barclay 24" Claixo Single Bowl Farmer Sink

I'd enjoy having a drainboard for this sink; however, I think a 36-inch wide sink would overpower the space (the countertop is only 6-feet long). If anyone knows of a brand that offers cast iron or fireclay sinks that could fit this space, I would be more than happy to hear about them.

UPDATE: We ended up using an 18x24 apron front sink and managed to get the faucet installed at the back of the sink. We love it!

How much clearance do we need at the back of the sink if we are NOT installing the faucet in the back?

What type of counters are you using? Because the answer may depend on how narrow your fabricator is willing to cut the back rail of the sink cutout (that section of counter behind the sink.)

We are thinking of using a granite countertop. As for the faucet, I was under the impression that mounting a faucet to the wall introduces a whole host of problems. I'm trying to avoid making this project any more difficult. Lol!

A wall mount faucet makes a lot of sense for this space. As far as problem? Consider that bathtubs & showers have wall mounted faucets. Since this looks like an interior wall where the faucet would be mounted, I would give it a second consideration.

You'll won't have a bothersome deck mount in the way, the faucet would be centered over the sink rather than on one end and a wall mount faucet stays a lot cleaner than a deck mounted one.

Would you mind sharing more dimensions for this space? Specifically clearance between cabinets and laundry machines. I’m trying to plan a tight laundry room right now.

Idavis2533, we had to get a top loading washing machine because of space limitations. The upper cabinets above the washer and dryer are deeper than the cabinets above the sink because of the depth of the washer and dryer (otherwise, you wouldn't be able to reach). If you hire a cabinet company, they will guide you on the spacing. We have 20.75" between the top of the washer and dryer and the bottom of the upper cabinets. When I say "top", I am referring to the lid of the washer, not the back lip where the control panel resides. Hope this helps.
