Who've we got here...

This came to me as 'Titanic' which it quite obviously is not. Just need a starting point to do some digging. Largest leaf was removed -needed something for a bouquet of peonies- and it was about 17x12, bottom of the leaves are glaucous.

Here's a different angle.

I once thought about ordering a hosta named Grand Canyon when it was "new" but decided it might be too similar to Sum and Substance. Anyway, your picture reminds me of Grand Canyon.

Thanks for the suggestion, Beverly. 'Grand Canyon' has undulating leaves whereas this one only has one leaf that shows undulations, but that may be a sign of immaturity. We'll see how it develops and it may well prove to be GC, time will tell. Thanks again.

There is one plant. There is nothing I could find for 'Titanic' to indicate the variegation was slow to develop and it certainly isn't 'Sum and Substance'. I'm tending to go with Beverly's suggestion of 'Grand Canyon', 'Sum and Substance' has a much rounder leaf and the friend who gave it to me came by last night and showed me another leaf from the section she kept back and it showed the undulations you see on only a couple of leaves in the pictures that would appear to be characteristic of GC.
