Pretty kitchen. Wouldn't you need to change your countertop, your cabinets, your floor, your wall, and your lighting? It doesn't seem to me that it will make it significantly more open for the amount of work involved.

@minimomy — You are correct! My plan in its entirety would be to knock out the half wall and create a long countertop bar area, then maybe re-do the island to make up for some of the cabinet space lost. However, redoing the plumbing is where I draw the line! Haha

Might help you get better information if you explain whether you're on a slab or basement/crawl. If your only concern is the plumbing cost, I would *guess* that is going to be trivial compared to all of the other changes you are contemplating.

I wouldn't change the angle because I wouldn't want to move the pendants and patch the ceiling, change the tile, buy new counters, buy new cabinets, etc, if I had a nice kitchen... but that is me :) It's all so neutral that you can work very easily with what you have and bring in some colors with decor.

If it were my kitchen, I'd probably remove the island (if the floor tiling continues under it) because that seems to be inhibiting traffic patterns the most.

Are you having functional issues with your kitchen? I had a similar layout (no island), and it was very convenient, but you may have pain points that this change will address?

If you're re-doing cab and creating a pennisula, you're effectively re-doing your kitchen. Which has a starting price of $50k - esp in the Covid era. Don't sweat spending $800 to move your sink.
