I think you can find something more attractive.

Looking at this fixture. It comes in a size bigger which leads me to my question on whether I should purchase bigger ones fir front door and top of the stairs

What is the height of the entry ceiling? and the top of the stairs? I would want chandelier-type fixtures in those two locations if possible, and then something coordinating that doesn't add much visual interest in the other areas.

The light by the entryway should be a much larger semi-mount light. I'd invest in recessed lights throughout all your hallways and other areas. You don't appear to have nearly enough light to be functional.
