I am looking at fridges also. I am replacing a barely 4 y/o Samsung SXS fridge. While it worked, it was the best fridge I've ever used. Well designed interior with quality, good looking bins and drawers. It still looks new, but after weeks of f*ing around replacing control boards, turns out it is the compressor, and the Samsung authorized repair place discouraged me from replacing.

I think we will go with a Fisher Paykel bottom freezer. I've had a french door and loathed it. My regular appliance guy steered me toward GE or Frigidaire. Said Whirlpool,, which owns Kitchen Aid, is declining in quality of late and he's doing more repairs.

I am still focused on Kitchenaid as the appliance store I plan to buy from told me they have been having good results with them and more importantly, the other appliances in my new kitchen which will be supplied by the builder are all kitchenaid and I want everything to match. I currently have all Jennair which is close to top of the line from Whirlpool. I bought extended protection and have so far had to make a big repair on the microwave and a small repair on the dishwasher. My old condo with 30 year old Maytag appliances had never needed repairs in all those years. Today, with all the new electronics to break an extended warranty is a must. Sad but true.
