Pruning for Rounded Shape

last modified: 5 years ago

I've got a few macs that are a bit more VERT that I like. On one, if I look at it dead on, I can literally see a leafless opening, 1 strong stem, with 3 branchings off of it. spot. Just the strong leafless stem before the branching of it.

Going to give this a shot late summer, but anyone prune the exterior canes of the shrub a but shorter in height so the subsequent lower blooms makes it a bit more rounder/fuller ? I normally don't prune as winter usually ends up doing some unwanted pruning for me anyhow
