I would collect the seeds. I've grown the orange tassleflower before. The foliage looks similar to weedy, wild lettuce, but the flowers make up for it. It's interesting that it's called by the common name Florida Tassleflower, but it's place of origin is disputed, and it seems to have a world wide distribution.

if it self sowed itself into a random pot.. im thinking it should be all over your garden.. and if it is.. im not sure i would save seeds to make sure i have more of it around... lol

or mil just got the lemon.. and its a free gift from wherever the tree came from ... but then again.. im wondering if it would be a nice friend in the garden.. or a self sowing nightmare ... seeing as how far it came with the new tree ...

I grew an Emellia species several years ago, and it never became a nightmare, in fact I wish it had sown more volunteers. I'm sure other people would love having seeds for this one, a nice gift. If there's no problem, why create one Ken? 🙄

Thanks guys. ive never encountered this plant in my area. it doesn’t mean they aren’t out there. i think this was a hitchhiker in lemon pot or the soil used to up pot. I’ll tell MIL we can collect seeds and but try to keep it in check. i rather like that its red and would look neat mixed with other foilage/plants.

It's pretty weedy here. And the fluffy seeds blow everywhere and sprout.

I can't imagine growing it on purpose.
