Ask your flooring person .

Traffic HD alone will not make it lighter. In fact it will pull the tannins and make it darker. If, you want light, use a sealer.

Yes, use a sealer. If, you do not want to, use Bona Naturalle Traffic. That is Bona's invisible finish. You can top it with Traffic HD for better performance.

Your first resort should ALWAYS be to search for information from the manufacturer. In this case Bona recommends a stain or sealer before Traffic, as you can see in the following document under "Directions"..

Thanks everyone. Timothy, I will reach out to Bona. Patricia: I thought I landed on Bona Natural Sealer with 2 coats of Traffic HD satin. My floor guy, with decades of experience said "I won't use your sealer because it leaves blotches. I'll do 3 coats of Bona traffic." He prefers to work with oil. Thoughts?

Have him use bona naturale. its a finish not a sealer. you csn put hd over it.

G&S, you said that a sealer would keep the floors light. That's what we are looking for. My guy now said he would do 2 coats of bona natural seal then 2 of traffic hd to avoid streaks from a single coat of sealer. Should that do the trick? I guess if someone said here is a picture of bona naturale and traffic hd I might opt in, but its hard to know.

Doing a single uniform tinted coat can be tough so two is often what's required.

Bona naturale is a poly. bona natur seal is a sealer. you can use naturale withput sealer.

Your guy is going to have some fun since he does not do well with water base finishes.
