Plumbing Design Dilemma Bathrooms

I have a small high back type antique wall mounted sink that needs the chrome faucet replaced. The chrome is pitted. The sink is 19 x 18, but the bowl itself is only 10" from the back to the front. The c I current spout has a reach of 2 1/2". I think I could go up to about 4-4 1/2" without water splashing, but I have not been able to find any vintage style wall mounted faucets (6" spread) that come close. Ideally I would like to find something with cross handles. Can longer spouts be modified (i.e. cut shorter)? Or could my current ones be re-chromed? If so, who does those kind of modifications? The plumbers I have consulted don't want to touch it. Any ideas?

There are a number of resources out there for vintage and new faucets made to fit your setup, and some will do various sorts of re-tooling along with the rechroming you need:

With some widespread type faucets you may be able to switch out the spout for a shorter one. You might also look at some of the bathtub wall-mounted styles? Many of them have adjustable spread and shorter spouts and are intended to be mounted in the wall of the tub.

Get it rechromed if it is still in a good condition. In this way you dont have to replace it and it is an easier way instead of finding a vintage one.
