Bantel’s sensation help

Hi, so i managed to aquire a small offset of S. Bantel’s Sensation (very difficult over here in the UK). When it arrived, the very small amount of rhizome had no roots. It was duly potted up and, as it was winter, put on a heat mat with grow lights. 5 months later and there has been zero growth. I’ve checked the rhizome and there are still no roots. The very small leaves remain green.

It may be that it was simply too dry (being on the heat mat) so i have switched off the mat but i fear I am at risk of losing it. My question is; should I continue as I am or, has anyone tried rooting a rhizome in water? I can’t find any literature on this at all, everything refers only to leaves in water.

Thanks in advance for any advise.
