Ideas for chairs and entertainment center

last modified: 5 years ago

We recently moved to Hawaii. We purchased this sofa, and I’m looking for ideas on what style chairs and entertainment center (just to put our TV on) to go with it. We will be starting fresh with living room furniture so there are no existing pieces that need to be worked in.

The fabric on your sofa is quite a bold statement piece so I wouldn’t add any additional large pattern. I would take the pale blue from the sofa and try to find two comfortable chairs in that plain colour. Then find a 10x12 area rug that has a very small pattern (like pin stripes, small dots, etc.) in a green that again is found in the sofa. I would stay away from red unless it’s a for small accent vase.

I love the sofa. I would pick chairs in a similar or complementary green from the sofa. I think the entertainment center should have flat panel doors and no decorative wood. I'd chose a color similar to the wicker on the sofa. The chairs could be comfy. low, overstuffed and very casual or leaning toward midcentury.

Beautiful ! Search online for similar bamboo style pieces. Often see it in the Outdoor area of furnishings. And I agree with an above poster. Blue is a good color to repeat from the print on your sofa.

A pale color natural jute rug or fluffy white shag rug on the floor (think flokati...) could be nice...or a white Berber...something cool, visually quiet, and neutral to form a base for that happy sofa! Then you could try a couple of arm chairs in a subtle wide stripe of white with that soft blue that is the ground of the sofa print. The stripe would continue the tropical vibe without fighting with the bold colorful print on the sofa. Paddlerchick's stylistic suggestions for chairs are good, and yes, you should probably echo the wood tones of the rattan in finding an entertainment cabinet for the T.V. Or you might try a converted armoire cabinet in a rustic hand rubbed paint finish that echoes the pale blue color of the sofa again and pick up the wood tones for any sort of coffee table or occasional table that might be needed, Here, I would look for something with glass tops...think of the idea of clear pools of water contrasted with the wood and tropical vegetation suggested by your sofa. Above all, have fun with your new home and locale!
